Sound Proofing of Music Rooms,
Home Offices & Workrooms

Reducing the escape of sound from rooms in your home or outbuildings is sometimes necessary to give you peace of mind that you are not annoying others in your property or neighbours. This may seem easy but requires careful thought and planning depending on the noise generated within the chosen space.

Thermacoustic can assess your requirements, which will require a personal visit and provide you with a quotation for undertaking the work.

There are many things to consider which include:

  • The volume of, and type of noise to be generated within the area.
  • The resistance of the existing structure. Different walls, ceilings and floors will normally provide varying resistance and weak areas are usually doors and windows.
  • Establishing the dominant noise paths. This usually requires sound testing, for which we have our own equipment.
  • The distance from the ‘source’ room to the sensitive areas.
  • What type of ventilation is to be used (attenuated vents or air conditioning).

Reducing reverberation within the source area to obtain the desired acoustic environment and reducing echo.

Depending on distance and the amount of soundproofing required, there may be a small charge for sound testing, but if this is necessary then the amount charged will be refunded in full, if we are requested to proceed with the subsequent acoustic work.
